Tomb Raider 2013 (iOS) Review: A port that mostly hits the bullseye

Tomb Raider 2013 has arrived on iOS and Android devices, and it's been a fun time rediscovering the game at the earliest point of Lara Croft's story. After being made available on Nintendo Switch consoles in January 2026, it was a nice surprise to see the game appear on mobile handsets a month later.

Whilst playing Tomb Raider ports on an iPhone is nothing new, it still surprises me to this day. Back in December 2013, Crystal Dynamics released the original Tomb Raider for mobile devices, featuring redone textures as an optional extra, and the Unfinished Business expansion. With TR2 coming out a year later, it was impressive to me that I was playing these two classic titles wherever I was, regardless of being able to do the same on my PS Vita.

Now, almost 14 years later, Feral Interactive has ported the 2013 reboot to plenty of mobile devices, with almost no compromises. Available on iPhones and iPads running iOS 18, requiring 18GB, there's also an Android version available for the same price of $19.99/£12.99.

Replaying Tomb Raider 2013 with a smooth framerate and no compromise on its graphics has been a great time on my iPhone 15 Pro Max, especially when connected to my Backbone One controller. But considering the game is over 13 years old at this point, does its gameplay and story work as well on smaller devices?
